Graphic Manipulation

Photo Manipulation in Photoshop

This is such a fun program ! I have experience with this program and it was hard for me to stick to the outline of the assignment. The outline was to use the crop tool, lasso tool and marques tool.
I took it a little further perhaps, once I got manipulating I couldn't stop myself. I am still having trouble with layers.

To start I cropped this photo. (Original is at the bottom) I wanted to make the grass even with the sky to give it equality. I then used the marques tool and highlighted the farm and the mountain, used the free transform tool. I found the free transform by right clicking after I highlighted the subject. I made the farm and mountains larger. I then warped the grass and skewed the grass to give it depth.

I started by cropping this photo. I altered this photo quite a bit. I used the lasso tool to highlight the trees along the middle of the photo and used the vibrance tool to make the tree line brighter. I adjusted them equally- vibrance @ +75 and saturation @ +51.
I then went in and changed the color balance of the entire photograph. The color balance levels are: Shadows: Cyan 0       Green +32          Blue +70
Highlights: Cyan 0     Green +9       Yellow -19

Layers

I played around with layers and adding to the photo. Here is added a posturize layer and adjust the curve settings. I then added some water from the photo above, that I altered. Although it doesn't line up completely I think it adds uniqueness to the photo.

Below are the original photos

  1. You did really nice work on these, and you really tweaked the color perfectly--I feel like these should be tantalizing vacationers from the front of a brochure or something! Every element of each is balanced, and the finished product was spectacular. (Don't worry about the layer struggles...I have the same issue. It's just so confusing.)

  2. I really like your second photo. The colors are beautiful, it's crazy how much of a difference the lighting in a picture can make it feel.

  4. Excellent work on these!

You are really getting the hang of these tools. Keep going! Make more and more, until the tool drops away. By that, I mean that eventually when you go to Photoshop, you will not even have to think about what tools to use to get the desired effect… You will already know that and now it is time for just creating.
