DODGE & BURN
I struggled with the assignment regarding Dodge & Burn. I found that by using the tool it only allowed me to do so much with what I had. I only let me lighten the bright parts and not the dark parts. After two hours, I came up with this alteration.
I began with altering the vibrance and saturation of the photo. As I'm typing this out, I wonder if that is why I had such trouble with the adjustments. Hmmm. I then chose the dodge tool, because that is the only one that I could manipulate with. The brush size is used was 88px with a 100% hardness. I then went and highlighted all the sunny spots in the photo.
FILTERS
I love this gorilla! One of the many highlights of heading south on Route 7. I started off my cropping the picture. I then used the Fresco filter to alter the photo to give it an artistic feel. Then I used the brush tool to add red to the VW. Feeling brave, but not confident, I tried the dodge tool to lighten the teeth.
I had fun with this photo! I started off by using the Liquid filter and cascaded the tool to flow with the water. I then sharpened the edges. Next, I went in to Accent the edges I used a edge width of 2, edge brightness of 26 and a edge smoothness of 7. Finally I added the Ocean Ripple filter and adjusted it with a ripple size of 5 and a ripple magnitude of 5.

Excellent work on all of these.
ReplyDeleteThe first photo has the tool used for exactly what it should be used for. Very subtle changes that create more visual interest in a rhythmic pattern. An excellent job on the next one as well. Cropping the roofs out and then enhancing/saturating the colors slightly make this photograph look expertly taken. Well done.
I really like your first photo. The way you used the dodge and burn tools enhanced it enough to give it a more vivid warm look but didn't make it look unrealistic
ReplyDeleteThe composition in these is on point. Especially the first photo--the rocks in the foreground and river framed by trees make for a perfectly balanced picture that is a pleasure to look at.
ReplyDeleteVery nice work. The dodge and burn used in the first image totally changed the picture for the better! really emphases the water and leaves in the trees.
